WHAT A SUPER 16th Annual BARK IN THE PARK at Fort Toulouse!

What a perfect day Sunday was for Bark in the Park and fun outside with our dogs and friends!  The weather was gorgeous, we had a wonderful turnout of dogs and people alike!  Everyone seemed to have a simply wonderful time, the vendors made lots of sales and new friends, and it was just a great afternoon all around.  Check out our Shelter Facebook page so you can either find yourself or see all the fun you missed if you were unable to attend.
This was our 16th year for Bark in the Park and, as always, Fort Toulouse was perfect for our event!  On behalf of our Board & Staff we so appreciate the great turnout and all these great partner exhibitors: Venice Gelato, Grumpy Dog, Alabama Animal Alliance Spay/Neuter Clinic,  Camp Bow Wow Montgomery, Cat Lady Bling, Cat Lady Claws,  CB&S Bank, For Healthy Pets, Tannehill Photography, Artistic-Manifest, A Wiggle & A Wag Grooming Spa,  Duane Parker Wood & Stone Carving, D.PAWshe’ & Powerhouse Hippie, Pooch Lala, Fofo Pet Sitting Services, The Crafty Hedgehog, Steel City Cbd, Made By Madi, Gabbs Of Love Candle Company.
With the help of Tuskegee Veterinary College, 23 dogs were microchipped thereby enhancing their chances of being reunited with their family in the, hopefully rare, event they ever become lost.  Two of our pups were adopted and 50 dogs went home with their very own and unique Pet Picasso paintings – a record number indeed!
The Silent Auction of Pet Items and more was a huge success and not only helped us raise a bit more money but let some pet owners go home with some treasures they can put to great use for their pets.
Please also thank these incredible Sponsors, most who have helped sponsor Bark in the Park for many, many years:  Buffalo Rock Montgomery, Tuskegee University, College of Veterinary Medicine; Blue Ridge Animal Clinic; Dr. Bipin Kumar; CB &S Bank; Ark Animal Hospital; Coosa River Adventures; Gray's Tire & Service Center; Steve McGhehee; Collier Ford; Jackson, Thornton & Co; Marla H. Wohlman M.D; The Davey Tree Expert Company; Taylor Athletic Wear; HSELCO Secret Admirer; Dawg Gone Pretty Pet Salon; Cousins Insurance Agency; For Healthy Pets; Jill & Harley Samuelson; Camellia Veterinary Hospital; Castaway Animal Clinic; Centerpoint Fellowship Church-Wetumpka; Champs Barbeque; Bryson Veterinary Clinic; Grier Services; Zap Pest Control; Bell Family Chiropractic & PHOENIX the Wonder Dog!

Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Andre’ Harrison for being our Master of Ceremonies and announcing our Pet Parade, to Rev Mark Waldo for conducting our Blessing of the Animals and to Charlie Helton for providing our sound system!  The Pet Parade was huge and what fun it is to see so many loved dogs with their owners as we think all dogs deserve their very own parade!
We have a few of our “Keep it Pawsitive” 2022 Bark in the Park T-Shirts left and you can purchase them at our Shelter office or Tail's End Thrift Store for $15!
And finally, our sincere thanks to our Board Members, Staff and Volunteers who work hard to ensure Bark in the Park runs smoothly and is fun for all who attend.  Look for another great year in 2023 for year 17!

16th Annual BARK IN THE PARK at Fort Toulouse

Make sure to mark your calendar for our 16th Annual Bark in the Park at Fort Toulouse on Sunday, 18 September from 1-5 pm (rain date is Sun, 25 Sep)! Let’s all have some fun with our dogs by bringing your dog out to Fort Toulouse to enjoy a nice afternoon in the park.
There will be plenty to do and see at Bark in the Park – vendors, food, demonstrations, Microchip Clinic, Blessing of the Pets, Pet Parade, Pet Photography, Bark in the Park T-Shirts and a great selection of Pet related Silent Auction items that will be on our Facebook page as we get closer to the day.
We will kick things off at 1 pm with an exciting Police K-9 demonstration so don’t be late and they will stay just a bit afterwards to answer any questions.
We have numerous vendors with pet products, groups and information, crafts, sweets, local businesses and more. Vendors will be set up under the trees and around the Pavilion area and plenty of time for more Vendors to join us – check our Vendor App below or email us at the Shelter at hselco@bellsouth.net .
Grumpy Dog will have Hot Dogs for our “doggy oriented day” and you can get a super yummy Gelato from Venice Gelato. To quell your thirst step over to the Buffalo Rock Pepsi Trailer for a variety of sodas and water for sale.
Our Blessing of the Pets will happen between 2-2:15 pm followed by our always popular Parade of Pets. After all who doesn’t like showing off their beloved pet! During the Pet Parade secret judges will be scouting out dogs for fun prizes – biggest, smallest, best costume and more.
From 1:30 – 3 pm our Silent Auction of a large number of pet related items will be ongoing and there are treasures galore! We will post photos and info on our Facebook page as we get a bit closer to the day. All Auction items must be paid for and picked up at the end of the Auction at 3 pm. If a person is the highest bidder but is not present when the auction ends, we will move to the next highest bidder present. We will be able to take payment via cash, check, credit or debit.
Microchips can be critical to reuniting lost pets and to help keep more pets safe, bring your dog to Fort Toulouse where it can be chipped. From 1:30 – 3:30 and for only $25 (which includes the registration) you can get your pet microchipped thanks to the Tuskegee College of Veterinary Medicine.
Make sure to stop near the Pavilion at Fort Toulouse to purchase your 2022 Bark in the Park T-Shirt for $15. We are most appreciative of the Sponsors for our T-Shirt and we think “Keep it Paws-itive” is a good message for us all this year. We always have some delectable baked goodies as well and who doesn’t like homemade sweets!
Admission to Bark in the Park is $5/person 13 years old and older. ALL dogs coming to Bark in the Park must be good in public, meaning good around children, adults and other dogs in a very busy situation, AND they must have a current rabies tag/proof of rabies vaccination to come to the Park.
