19th Annual Bark in the Park at Fort Toulouse in Wetumpka
Sunday, 21 September, NOON – 4 pm
Sunday, 21 September, starting at NOON will be our or our 19th Annual Bark in the Park at Fort Toulouse in Wetumpka! Let’s all have some fun with our dogs by bringing your dog out to Fort Toulouse to enjoy a nice afternoon in the park. Just in case our rain date is Sun, 28 Sep.
There will be plenty to do and see at Bark in the Park – vendors, food, music, demonstrations, adoptable dogs, Microchip Clinic, Blessing of the Pets, Pet Parade, Pet Contests, five fantastic Raffle Baskets, Bark in the Park T-Shirts and so much more.
We officially start everything off at NOON and from about 12:30 – 2:15 we will have various dog demonstrations in front of the Pavilion – Disc Dog, K9 Nosework, Obedience, Tricks and How to Greet Dogs.
We will have Adoptable Dogs with us and wouldn’t it be great if we went back to the Shelter with empty crates because they all found loving homes! If you already have a dog, we know you will want to get them their very own Pet Picasso Paw Print!
We have numerous vendors with pet products, groups and information, crafts, sweets, local businesses and more. Vendors will be set up under the trees and around the Pavilion area and plenty of time for more Vendors to join us – check our Vendor App here (deadline extended to 15 Sep) or email us at the Shelter at hselco@bellsouth.net .
Crepe Magic will have their incredibly delectable savory and sweet crepes. You don’t want to miss out on Venice Gelato’s scrumptious Gelato cones and cups AND we will be joined this year by Harper & Co. Coffee for those needing a hot or cold coffee fix! For water or sodas, see our folks at the Buffalo Rock Company Tent for some ice-cold drinks.
Our Blessing of the Pets will happen at 2:30 pm followed by our always popular Parade of Pets at about 2:45. After all who doesn’t like showing off their beloved pet! During the Pet Parade secret judges will be scouting out dogs for fun prizes in these categories – smallest dog, largest dog, most ORIGINAL costume, best costume, owner-pet lookalike and Judge’s Choice. Winners will receive some very cool gift certificates from local area businesses for which we are incredibly appreciative and will publicly recognize once we have them all.
We will have tickets for sale for our five fantastic Baskets that we promise will be HUGE and jam packed with goodies. There will be a Dog Themed Basket, a Cat Themed Basket, a Wine Basket, a Coffee Basket and a Tail's End Thrift Store Basket. Raffle tickets will be pulled at 3:30 and, yes, you must be present to win! Trust us – it will be worth it as these will be giant baskets full of goodies.
Microchips can be critical to reuniting lost pets and to help keep more pets safe, bring your dog to Fort Toulouse where it can be chipped. From 1:00 – 3:00 and for only $25 (which includes the registration) you can get your pet microchipped thanks to the Tuskegee College of Veterinary Medicine.
Make sure to stop near the Pavilion at Fort Toulouse to purchase your 2025 Bark in the Park T-Shirt for $15. We are most appreciative of the Sponsors for our “Embrace the Chaos” T-Shirt.
Admission to Bark in the Park is $5/person 13 years old and older. ALL dogs coming to Bark in the Park must be good in public, meaning good around children, adults and other dogs in a very busy situation, AND they must have a current rabies tag/proof of rabies vaccination to come to the Park.
