ADOPTION INFORMATION & POLICIES
- We are not doing any walk-in adoptions without pre-approved applications. We are not allowing the general public to just ‘come walk-through the Shelter to look at our animals’ to protect our staff.

- To see our Adoptable Cats: https://www.petfinder.com/search/cats-for-adoption/us/al/wetumpka/
- You can also see our pets on our Facebook page (right side) and on our website at http://www.elmorehumane.org/adoptable-animals.html
Here are the steps to adopt if you see a pet you are interested in:

Here are the steps to adopt if you see a pet you are interested in:
- Fill out and submit our ONLINE ADOPTION APPLICATION or Email us at hselco@bellsouth.net for our Adoption Application.
- Once we receive your completed application we will review and once approved, will contact you to set up an appointment to meet the pet in question.
IMPORTANT – we respond to your emailed applications and queries via email back to you. Please make sure you have either added our email (hselco@bellsouth.net) to your contact list or that you routinely check your SPAM folder for our response just to be safe. If we do not receive a timely response we simply move on to another applicant.
- Those wanting to adopt a cat will come inside the facility to our cat rooms to meet the cat(s).
- Of course you are not required to adopt the pet you apply for if it is just ‘not the one’ once you meet it but honestly with your application and our help the approved application to adoption conversion rate is easily 95%.
- Our appointment hours will be set up between 10 am – 4 pm Mon - Fri & 9 am – 3 pm Sat. CLOSED Sundays and Major Holidays.
- One thing that can work very well is to do our WISH LIST Adoption Application so that we can pre-qualify you for adoption and keep our eyes peeled for a suitable pet. Trust us this works great and sometimes why you might see a pet posted on our Facebook as ADOPTED that you never saw on-line. It works!
- In regards to these APPOINTMENTS - when we have worked out a time between both parties we are writing it on our appointment calendar and then making other appointments based on available openings. So we need those with appointments to COME ON YOUR APPOINTED TIME. If you have issues enroute please call us at 334-567-3377 to give an update. Please also understand that those who are on-time for their appointments will have the priority and we will then fit in those who are way early or way late as we can, IF we can.
